ABSTRACT

As we conclude this text, the authors each provide a unique way to call the reader to action. Sam starts by writing a letter to his children and provides information for them to pass on to their educators and school counselors. Next, Shekila calls upon readers to understand what she wished her school counselor would have been to her during her youth. Amber speaks authoritatively about challenging ourselves to do the heavy lifting internally first, then to be brave and bold to work collaboratively when dismantling deep-rooted systems of oppression within schools and communities.
