ABSTRACT

The death of Swami Yogananda, her beloved disciple, in 1899, moved the Mother deeply. Shortly thereafter Swami Vivekananda started on his second trip to America, with Holy Mother’s blessings, accompanied by Swami Turiyananda and Sister Nivedita. In 1909 Swami Saradananda went to Jayrambati to settle the division of the ancestral property among Holy Mother’s brothers. The illness was becoming more and more serious every day. The Mother’s body, thin and emaciated, almost blended with the bed. Three shrines now stand as memorials to Holy Mother, all erected by the loving care of her beloved child Swami Saradananda. A similar incident is recorded in the life of Sri Ramakrishna. The Master was then suffering from cancer of the throat. It was very painful for him to swallow even liquid food.
