ABSTRACT

Like other forms of scientific inquiry, a research design is a sequence of interrelated elements. This chapter discusses the methodological framework that guides a sequence of interrelated phases of the research design with specific emphasis on data gathering, processing and analysing. Every scientific investigation is found on some fundamental philosophical assumptions about what constitutes a well-founded study design and which research approaches and design techniques are appropriate to assess developed research problems. The chapter discusses the research approach, the design technique and the philosophical assumptions and research approach. It discusses data source and databases; data correction methods; and population sample, sample size, sampling technique and study design.
