ABSTRACT

The introduction sets the stage for formulating a novel understanding of the dynamic notion of post-Islamism under study. It throws light on contemporary micro-politics by focusing on a new generation of ‘female’ ‘post-Islamist’ ‘youth’ in Egypt who have evolved post the 2011 Egyptian Uprisings as active Muslims/citizens through their engagement in some form of da'wa (proselytizing), charity or civil society activism, and to explore the religio-political visibility of these females under study in view of their worldviews. The introduction also provides a rationale for the deployment of a critique of the Habermasian model of the public sphere to account for the form of social integration and nature of activism of the women under study.
