ABSTRACT

During post-production, the teams will be working with an entirely new crew: editors, composers, post-production supervisors, music supervisors, VFX artists, animators, color graders, Foley artists, sound engineers, and laboratory technicians, just to name a few. The artist and the company they work for must agree that all contributions by the artist will originate with the artist or are in the public domain. This should be coupled with an indemnity provision creating an obligation for the artist's company to indemnify the production company for any breaches of the representations and the warranties or other breaches of the agreement. Many post-production contracts contain clauses allowing the post-production house to have a lien on the film and other materials used in post-production.
