ABSTRACT

A gradual release model supports teachers with developing into effective teacher leaders. They should have the opportunity to observe teacher leaders in different settings through shadowing and modeling opportunities. Through observations, teachers are able to observe and learn different actions and strategies to promote leadership. Then the teacher leaders collaborate to boost each others’ confidence as they work together on projects or activities. When the teachers are empowered, they can be presented with leadership opportunities and given space to lead out on their own.
