ABSTRACT

There will be times when the fortunate interior designer is involved in a new build or the complete remodelling of a property. Finding a space that might convert into such small apartments is exciting, but it is essential to consult an expert during the feasibility study. At the briefing stage the designer needs to have a very clear idea of the use for the property, so they are sure early on that the client's expectations are not unrealistic –and if they are, they need to be handled tactfully. Architects and designers who can develop a building from the foundations upwards or take something derelict and revive it have a fantastic opportunity to explore the possibilities of the space. It is likely that an interior designer involved in a new build will be working with an architect. The designer proposed pushing everything against the walls, and created an attractive glazed screen above the kitchen units and bedroom storage.
