ABSTRACT
Ricardo is intrigued by what Gino—a 40-year-old technician who has spent his entire career working in the Davanti prototype shop—has to show the group. Gino begins his description with a lesson in traditional carbon-frame building. “Davanti has had many good years without being really challenged by competition, but those good times may be coming to an end. “Davanti recently formulated new and very aggressive objectives and goals, which are needed to secure the future of the company and the Fumane site. Ricardo briefly shows the corporate vision and goals on a large portable screen behind him and on all monitors in the engineering area. Ricardo explains the R&D matrix organization and how most people will report to a project manager and a functional manager.
