ABSTRACT

As February winter gradually gave way to the hope of spring in Italy, Mo and Marie played a game of hit and miss. Even texting and calling between the two was sporadic, but they’d eventually connect and spend most of their conversation discussing how much they miss each other. The safe option, although technically not the most exciting, will give Mo’s team a chance to create a complete drivetrain that can be used on a real bike in the next integration event, enabling them to learn how the different drive mechanisms interact with the gear mechanism. The universal joints would allow longer cables and more flexibility and open the door to front-wheel drives for bicycles. The Leonardo team doesn’t plan to include the fork modifications into their experiments just yet. Since computer simulations are faster than building prototypes, Mo is hopeful that whenever they build their first bike, they can include a version of the new fork.
