ABSTRACT
One of the most important responsibilities of the Economic Section was the preparation of economic forecasts. It goes without saying that policy advice must rest on a view of the future whether or not it is explicit and makes use of a set of consistent predictions in quantitative form. Such predictions were an integral part of the economic surveys discussed in chapter 11. Even when not made by the Section itself they were indispensable to its work.
