ABSTRACT

Students often imagine teachers as the experts of their disciplines. Interviews can be done in a couple of ways. One way is for the student herself to locate an expert in a topic she wants to know more about and conduct an individual interview. A second way to conduct an interview is for the teacher to bring in an expert or panel of experts for the students to question. There is a lot of math and science that goes into the construction of a bridge. Bridges are a series of intersecting, parallel, and perpendicular lines and line segments arranged to support heavy weights. The Ancient Romans refined bridges with two important contributions: arches (which support more weight than flat surfaces alone) and natural cement (which allowed them to build long bridges). Thus, bridge building became more exact, and the development of metal was a major advancement.
