ABSTRACT
Essays are often thought of only for use in language arts class, but essays can be used for any subject area concerning any topic. An essay basically asks a student to explain what she has learned in written form. You would think this would simply be a translation of what the student is thinking into words, but that is easier said than done. Many students have difficulty making this translation, so it is important to teach writing in all subject areas so that students become familiar with how to make this translation.
