ABSTRACT
One way to look at a research paper is as an expanded essay. Essentially, it follows the same structure: introduction of thesis, evidence, and conclusion. The essay can be written on the spot and is a culmination of what has been taught. There is the process of finding, evaluating, and organizing the information. Finally, the student must properly cite sources. The key to a good research paper is providing an outline for students to follow. The outline can be very basic or it can be detailed depending on the level of the student. Tell students that they can find almost anything on the Internet, which means they will always have to go through a lot of information that might not be relevant to their topic.
