ABSTRACT

Models bring ideas and concepts to life, making more practical and easier to understand. Analyzing models also leads to greater understanding. Meteorologists study models of hurricanes in order to try to predict what path one might actually take. Mathematicians spend a lifetime studying models, trying to crack the code that will lead to a new mathematical concept. Engineers study models of new cars and how they react to resistance in wind tunnels to shape the final design of the vehicle. When students create models, they can then analyze other students’ models to gain a better understanding. Rather than have each student create a model of the human body, have each student take a different part of the human body and create a more detailed model. Models are a practical way to study large concepts, and best of all, they bring learning to life.
