ABSTRACT
Most learners do not know to reflect naturally. They know to remember, regurgitate, recreate. In fact, they know how to reciprocate in the classroom, as they see it as a give and take. Reflection is like waiting for paint to dry before touching it. If we touch it before it’s dry, it’s going to come off, and it’s going to be messier than it needs to be. Learning is the same way. Reflection is most powerful when we are reflecting on failure. Reflection can also be taught by giving feedback on students’ reflections. Make reflection the priority each and every day. Reflecting is very similar to riding a bike. Encourage our learners to have reflection accountability partners. When they need an opportunity to reflect on something that didn’t go well or share something that did, they have someone who is always willing to listen. Reflection is a powerful tool when used the right way.
