ABSTRACT
There is a lot of talk about technology in education right now. But just like everything that we do in the classroom, if the technology that we use isn’t meaningful for our learners, it’s a waste of our time and theirs. Just like any learning that happens in the classroom, technology should engage and empower today’s learners. Engaging technology is technology that involves learners or gives them a reason to want to be involved. An example of meaningful technology that engages and empowers is connecting with experts outside of the classroom via technology. Meaningful technology also deepens understanding. Meaningful technology will also help learners who are ready to move beyond surface level and into those deeper levels where they can explore and dive into what is being learned. Technology gives us a huge opportunity to help our learners make connections.
