ABSTRACT
For years, students have learned from textbooks and work-sheets. They have read about faraway places and experiences with which they were not able to connect. Today’s learners react the same way. The 17 Global Goals for Sustainable Development were agreed upon by world leaders. The goals offer a framework to help our students understand what needs to change in our world and how they might have the ideas to impact that change. Virtual reality is another way to bring the world into the classroom, and it is very easy to do. Today’s learners love virtual reality, and it doesn’t have to be fancy. Finding outside experts seems like a lot of work, and it can be if we aren’t aware of the resources that are available to help us. Connecting with other classrooms also exposes students to different cultures and parts of the world that they might not even know exist.
