ABSTRACT
In this exploration, students resolve a friendly disagreement between Derek and Beth, who have made different predictions about the height of a transmission tower near their home. As they create a mathematical model (a scale drawing in this case) and use it to solve the problem, they learn more about proportional relationships and begin to explore similar shapes.
