ABSTRACT

Project-based learning (PBL) is a strategy of teaching that provides many advantages, including: allowing for more creativity, differentiation of varying ability levels, creating a passion for learning, and providing authentic opportunities for learning. In project-based learning, students are given a task to accomplish. Like most authentic learning, a project-based learning classroom will look very different than a traditional setting—the teacher in front of the class speaking to students who are sitting in seemingly permanent rows of desks. Just the act of working on a project is in itself an authentic task. Life is all about working on projects. The best way to plan for a long-term project is to start at the end.
