ABSTRACT

The second dimension of the Autonomous Learner Model is Individual Development, which is designed to give learners the appropriate skills, concepts, and attitudes for lifelong learning; in other words, to help them become autonomous learners. Individual Development provides the opportunity to develop the skills, concepts, and attitudes necessary to move from student to student/learner. The first area of the Individual Development Dimension provides a transition from Orientation. The emphasis on Self/Personal Development introduced in Dimension one is continued in the Inter/Intra Personal area. Learners begin to learn more about themselves and the world around them. Autonomous learners perceive learning and living as two main components of their ongoing development of potential in the cognitive, emotional, social, and physical domains.
