ABSTRACT

Computer technology in education is exploding in terms H of the range and capability of available equipment and software. Technology can benefit from the experiences of talented students who may sooner and more enthusiastically push its boundaries, but there are elements of privilege in the degree of access to educational technology, inside and outside the school, and it is not without potential dangers. Teachers and parents also need the opportunity to experience inquiry-driven learning through technology. The impact of technology should be felt at two levels: first on teaching and the organization of the teaching experience—what is normally thought of as teaching at the classroom level. A major need in the incorporation of instructional technology in education at all levels is the preparation of teachers. The opportunities created by technology in education are not yet fully imagined. Computer technology is becoming ubiquitous in education in North America and other prosperous societies.
