ABSTRACT

Systematic development of creativity is best accomplished when curriculum development intentionally places creative thinking, creative production, problem solving, innovation, and design thinking among the desired outcomes for students. Systematic development of creativity involves infusion of creative thinking expectations throughout the curriculum. As school systems train and equip teachers for creative pedagogy, they can systematically collect data in the real-time context of their schools. Systematic development of creativity may represent the gold standard for developing creativity and deep learning. A comprehensive approach for helping learning organizations is required to make the development of creative thinking, innovative thinking, and design thinking a true strategic mission. One component of a well-designed program of professional learning and training is the use of teacher standards. A well-designed program of professional learning and training may be the most promising way to prepare educators to systematically develop creativity.
