ABSTRACT

There are multiple factors, intrinsic and extrinsic, that affect an individual's creativity, and the people would be remiss to teach creativity or creative thinking without considering those factors. Developing psychosocial skills alongside creative skills prepares students to engage and sustain creative endeavors. Every day teachers experience students in the classroom who are quick to throw in the towel or give up once they've encountered a roadblock or challenge. Students exhibit intrinsic motivation when they engage in a task or performance for the sheer pleasure and satisfaction of it. There are two types of mindset: fixed and growth. Psychosocial skills are malleable and can intentionally be developed in students. Classroom environment matters, and teachers can take steps to create a creative culture in their classrooms, as "all innovation begins with creative ideas". Psychosocial skills are imperative for 21st-century learning and innovation.
