ABSTRACT
The extension lessons in this chapter allow middle school English teachers to further explore the elements of the CCSS for ELA (NGA & CCSSO, 2010a). The teacher’s role is to instruct students in the nuances of language and provide a structure that allows students to develop their critical and creative thinking processes.
