ABSTRACT

This chapter outlines the different types of products used in the featured menus, as well as the guidelines and expectations for each. It is very important that students understand the expectations of a completed product before they choose to work on it. The resources available to students vary within a classroom, and students should not be graded on the amount of materials they can purchase to make a product look better. These menus are designed to equalize the resources students have available. One of the biggest frustrations that accompanies the use of various products on menus is the barrage of questions about the products themselves. Most frustrations associated with products can be addressed proactively through the use of standardized, predetermined product guidelines that are shared with students prior to their selecting and subsequently creating any products. One of the most commonly used products in a language arts classroom is the story map.
