ABSTRACT

The great equalizer for a multitude of different products is a generic rubric that can cover all of the important qualities of an excellent product. There are different ways that this rubric can be shared with students. Some teachers prefer to provide it when a menu is presented to students. This rubric can be reproduced on the back of the menu along with its guidelines. Although the all-purpose rubric can be used for all activities, there are two occasions that seem to warrant a special rubric: student-taught lessons and student presentations. The objectivity can be addressed through a very specific presentation rubric that reinforces the expectations for the speaker. The rubric will need to be discussed and various criteria demonstrated before the students begin preparing their presentations. The rubric can be given to students to keep in their folder with their product guideline cards so they always know the expectations as they complete products throughout the school year.
