ABSTRACT

One benefit of choice is its ability to meet the needs of so many different students and their varied learning preferences. An explanation of the free-choice option and its management will follow the information on each type of menu. As a menu option, students may be offered the opportunity to submit a free choice for their teacher's consideration. If using a target-based menu like the Tic-Tac-Toe or Meal menu, there is no need to submit a free-choice proposal form that includes the mention of points. When implementing a menu that includes free choice, a copy of the appropriate free-choice proposal form should be given to each student when the menu is first introduced. The form should be discussed with the students, so they understand the expectations of proposing a free choice. The teacher will carefully review all of the information, give it back to the student for clarification if needed, and then sign the top.
