ABSTRACT

This chapter outlines the different types of products included in the featured menus, as well as the guidelines and expectations for each. The resources available to students vary within a classroom, and students should not be graded on the amount of materials they can purchase to make their products look better. These menus are designed to equalize the resources students have available. The materials for most products are available for less than a dollar and can usually be found in a teacher's classroom as part of the classroom supplies. First of all, limiting the amount of money a child can spend creates an equal amount of resources for all students. Second, it actually encourages a more creative product. When students are limited by the amount of materials they can readily purchase, they often have to use materials from home in new and unique ways.
