ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book primarily focuses on teachers and students, but it's really for any readers who want to extend their understanding of their personal creativity and to be able to nurture creativity in others. It describes and responds to several myths and misunderstandings that are widely held about creativity. The book presents a number of definitions that have been used to explain creativity and innovation and synthesizes that body of work by offering working definitions. It explores several reasons for the importance of creativity and innovation and challenges us to consider their implications for education.
