ABSTRACT

One of the first things the people will need to do before they begin the simulation is to decide how to apportion the electoral votes. Depending on the number of students in their group, they may have one student represent several states or, in the case of larger groups, they may have several students represent one large state with many electors. To determine the number of electoral votes each student represents, divide 538 by the number of students involved in the simulation. One possible solution would be to draw a candidate’s name from a hat. The name drawn would receive all of the electoral votes. In the case of a simulation that involves several classes, each one will be assigned several states and groups of students will be assigned to each state.
