ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the process of electing the President includes seven days. The Day 1, begins by introducing the procedure for electing the President and Vice President of the United States. The Day 2, divide students into two groups representing the Do Right party and the Fair and Square party. On Day 3, each party will hold its convention to select presidential and vice presidential candidates and to decide on a platform. Day 4 begins a new part of the simulation. On Day 5, candidates will give their final speeches and try to convince students to vote for them. The presidential and vice presidential candidates for each party should each address different issues of the party’s platform in their speeches. On Day 6, students will re-sign the Voter Registration form in the third column and have their signatures verified. On Day 7, the students will compare the popular and electoral votes each candidate received.
