ABSTRACT

This chapter describes classroom management techniques, including strategies for post-Genius Hour cleanup, keeping students on track and monitoring progress, and ensuring projects remain student-driven. Part of Genius Hour is the clean up at the end of the work period. In order to clean up appropriately, students need to know where things go and what they need to do. Every student should take ownership and pride in keeping things running smoothly during Genius Hour time—and keeping things neat is a part of that. The most important part of managing the Genius Hour process and the 6 P's is a bulletin board or other reference. Self-assessment is an important skill that students need and can learn throughout Genius Hour process as well. The process is much more important than the product, and the feedback is more important than grades that are given along the way.
