ABSTRACT

As most elementary teachers know, once the teachers have a contagious illness or infection (or infestation) in class, it’s pretty hard to determine where it started. The important thing is to alert parents immediately to its presence, and have the school nurse determine when infected children may safely return to school. Teachers need not only to develop strategies to deal with parents, but also to develop a habit of reflecting upon their own teaching behaviors to avoid unnecessary conflicts. When parents and teachers work together, their partnership benefits the child. Despite occasional conflict, helping a child be successful in school is the common goal for both home and school.
