ABSTRACT

In constructing the student profiles, the authors collected data from three distinctive sources: written documentation on student behavior and performance, surveys and interviews with parents and students, and observations in the classroom context. After incorporating the knowledge gleaned from school documents into practice, they evaluated the plans’ efficacy, documenting what did and did not work best for each student. They also interviewed the students, their counselors, and their parents using a common set of questions. All of the students in the study have now graduated from high school; some of them have graduated from college. The methodologies employed were a combination of survey questionnaires, where students recorded some information on schooling issues, and interview data collected more informally.
