ABSTRACT

For many, the key to teacher effectiveness is relationships. The student-teacher relationship is a powerful force and factor in learning. The student-teacher relationship is dynamic. Storytelling is another powerful method of teaching Social and Emotional Learning (SEL). Stories can be used to teach kids about integrity. The good news is that integrity can be taught, and the classroom is a wonderful place to ensure that this is happening. Integrity is a necessary quality for achieving social and emotional competency in the areas of relationships and responsible decision making. Teachers must be the kind of people who can lead and teach children and interact professionally with colleagues, parents, principals, etc. They must be the kind of people with subject matter expertise that allows them to help novices translate and transfer prior knowledge into new knowledge. Critical spiritual pedagogy is about using humanity, power, and spirituality to promote equity.
