ABSTRACT

In running, discipline requires attention to a daily nutrition plan and stretching beforehand, mental toughness and hydration during, and foam rolling afterward. Similarly, writing requires research and pre-writing beforehand, mental toughness and persistence during, and reflection and editing afterward. Lev Vygotsky laid the foundation for our understanding of learning as a social endeavor, advocating for the learner to be surrounded by language and opportunities to communicate. Given the cognitive, social, and motivational benefits, it is easy to conclude that writing is a wonderful tool for teachers and students. Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) is a movement to support the idea that the peoples are all writing teachers, and that all students need to learn to write in all content areas. The WAC movement gained ground in the 1970s, and since then it has been implemented in campuses at all levels.
