ABSTRACT

Maintaining perseverance and effort is a challenge for some students and they need to be continually reminded that they can achieve success. Specific plans to maintain a growth mindset school culture should be embedded in yearly school improvement plans to ensure that they are monitored. One aspect of a growth mindset school that is often overlooked is the learning environment in the classrooms. Each school should brainstorm “Look Fors” that would demonstrate a growth mindset school and class culture including evidence of a differentiated, responsive classroom. These are practices that should be evident in a classroom’s physical and affective environment as well as observed through teacher-student interaction. To work toward a growth mindset school culture is a commitment that all stakeholders must make.
