ABSTRACT
The students’ first roles will be as emergency room nurses. They should be able to make a tentative diagnosis of E. coli-based food poisoning in 1½ to 3 hours. Since there are several illnesses with similar symptoms, students should be cautioned not to be too quick to settle on a final diagnosis.
