ABSTRACT

The major challenge I’ve faced as a parent of gifted children in school is knowing when and how to intervene to make sure that they are continually being challenged to grow and learn. I know I am my kids’ first and best advocate, but there is certainly the fear of being “that” parent and how that may negatively impact my kids. When my second grader wrote a note to his teacher on his homework, “I need harder problems,” I took that as an undeniable signal that I needed to set up a meeting.
