ABSTRACT

Life is filled with false alarms. There are so many real sources of fear and foreboding in our world, that it is pointless to manufacture any more, yet we do it all the time. If one person has made the world a little more palatable for those individuals who experience life in a higher key, it is Michael Piechowski. Psychomotor overexcitability is often characterized as a surplus of physical energy that can be seen in a variety of ways: rapid speech with marked excitement, intense physical activity in organized sports, and impulsive actions or nervous habits, like nail biting or pencil drumming. Sensual overexcitability should not be confused with raging hormones, that adolescent affliction attributed to any teenager with an emerging libido. Having an intellectual overexcitability would seem to be synonymous with giftedness and that is, in fact, very close to true.
