ABSTRACT

Of all the complaints we are likely to hear from our gifted children, boredom in school is probably going to top the list. Occasionally, the boredom will be feigned, as the students are just not appreciating content that is at their level, but not on their radar screens in terms of interest. One of the biggest mistakes parents of gifted children make in trying to get their children an appropriate education is to blame the teacher when things do not go right. Principals hate when parents come to them and request a specific teacher for the following year. The surest way to raise the hairs on our child’s teachers’ necks is to use the word bored in their presence. Taking charge of our child’s education is likely to be a time consuming process.
