ABSTRACT

Gifted kids, by virtue of intellects that rise higher and faster than their agemates, have the smart part down pat. Doing gifted things and being gifted may or may not overlap. And although we acknowledge the “doers” because their talents are displayed so evidently or obviously, let us not do so at the expense of the “gifted beings” whose insights into self and others might be heightened to the point where, very quietly, they make differences in the lives of others by being a superb parent, a remarkable teacher, or a poet whose unpublished pieces are enclosed in greeting cards to friends in need of a boost.
