ABSTRACT

Project-based learning (PBL) units are designed to last 3-4 weeks. The PBL unit examples include the following components: subject/grade level, common core state standards and mathematical practices, time frame, PBL question, situation/problem, materials/resources, possible unit introduction, anticipated questions, example of reflection prompts, example of summative assessment, and example of a lesson connected to anticipated questions: mini-lesson, work time, debrief. A major misconception about systems of linear functions is the meaning of the solution. A major misconception about systems of linear functions is the meaning of the solution. There are several misconceptions students develop as they learn about transformations. As students learn how to read the directions for translations, they confuse horizontal and vertical movements.
