ABSTRACT

Introverted parents and caregivers have the best understanding of their introverted children. In addition to the problem of overscheduling that can occur, extroverted parents are often confused by the actions of their introverted spouses and children. Economic hardships, illness, divorce, and other stress-ors can leave parents and children frustrated and unsettled. Parents can do a lot to assist introverted children in dealing with stress, whether the source of the stress is from home or elsewhere. Pressures to perform, changes in societal norms regarding behavior, and lack of social skills teaching has created a potential maelstrom for children. Parents are working multiple jobs to make ends meet. Children are involved in school, sports, faith groups, and other activities as parents succumb to pressure to make sure there is no downtime for children to waste playing video games or getting involved with the “wrong crowd.”.
