ABSTRACT

School is one of the key areas of occupation for childhood, along with play and daily life skills. Getting dressed in the morning, picking out appropriate clothing, making it to the bus on time, doing homework, and studying for tests are all very important habits, routines, and rituals within the context of school and preparation for academic tasks. A Thinking Cap Corner is a place for your child to do homework and/or study. This designated area should be designed to be comfortable, quiet, and with few distractions. The Drop-Off Zone is a designated place in the home for children to leave their school things. Children who are disorganized benefit from having external organizational systems to help them compensate for the lack of internal organization. Physical activity and exercise can have an impact on cognitive skills, attitudes, and academic behaviors. Exercising while studying can boost a child’s attention and improve their cognitive powers.
