ABSTRACT
Time is one of the most important factors in our lives. You have to wake up at a certain time to go to school. Recess is for a short time. At the conclusion of the school day, there is a time to go home and finish your homework. There are clocks everywhere. You cannot be late for school, just as your parents cannot be late for their jobs or appointments. Even early humans were aware of time—evidenced by inventions such as the astrolabe and sundial and concepts like day and night or the time from one full moon to the next. The first section of this chapter deals with words associated with periods of time. The second section deals with our measurement of time.
