ABSTRACT

In the case of children with ASDs, the people experience has taught that the majority of children lack social skills for the first three reasons. The Complete the Puzzle framework the authors use in this book is divided into six steps for developing competence in each social skill. The framework can easily be adapted for early learners, intermediate learners, and advanced learners. Early learners are those who have developed very few social skills and may still need intensive instruction on basic language skills. Advanced learners are those who have learned many socials skills, but are still struggling with developing successful relationships with others. There are several important prerequisites that are necessary for success in using the framework. Playing with others is an important social skill for children. Many children with ASD are excellent rule followers.
