ABSTRACT
One of the best uses for makerspace is passion projects. Passion projects are powerful. When done right, they become a super-charged combination of two of the most engaging educational strategies: making real-world connections and tapping into student-driven interests. Allowing students to use makerspace to explore their passion projects gives them additional tools to take these projects even further. Working on a passion project with a team develops a whole host of Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) skills. Working in groups on passion projects also requires utilizing CASEL's entire SEL Framework. Connect addresses the connections that the projects make in helping others and also connecting with the audience during the presentation. Use group passion projects to help kids develop SEL skills across the full CASEL's SEL Framework.
