ABSTRACT

Managing a makerspace is no small undertaking, especially if your makers are mostly kids. The challenge is two-fold: you need to keep kids safe, and you can't be an expert at everything. I built, designed, and currently coordinate our makerspace, but I couldn't manage it without my talented partner teachers. In addition, our makerspace wouldn't be as amazing without the help I get from expert volunteers. In this chapter, we'll discuss some of the management and organizational techniques we employ, as well as suggestions for recruiting and managing volunteers.
