ABSTRACT

The artist is nothing without a gift, but the gift is nothing without work. Planning learning experiences to address a wide range of learner needs is key to helping students make continuous progress. Teachers are really good at designing learning experiences—and with a little practice with a familiar concept, they will be good at planning learning experiences that are differentiated to ensure that each student is challenged to learn. The Bloom Chart provides an easy way to design learning experiences that allow the content to remain the same while altering the process and the product to provide challenge and choice. Tiering allows students to complete this unit assessment at varying levels in order to challenge them all at levels at which they can be successful-yet at levels that will stretch them. Numerous examples are available to provide a starting point with units using Bloom's taxonomy, and these examples could easily be adapted to the revision, as well.
